When to Use Coupons, Negotiation or Action Rewards

Choose a discount based on what you want it to achieve, then assess the results using orders and costs.

A ten-percent coupon is easy to understand. It can work well for a promotion with the same terms for everyone. It can also discount an order a shopper was already willing to place at full price.

That possibility is a reason to measure the offer, not a reason to rule out coupons altogether.

Start with the purpose

Use a standard coupon when you want a simple promotion. Consider negotiation when you want interested shoppers to make an offer on selected products. Consider an action reward when a sign-up, referral, answer or qualifying cart is useful to your store.

These approaches can serve different purposes. Choose the one you can explain clearly to shoppers and assess afterwards.

Set a budget through limits

Choose the products, maximum negotiation discount and total extra reward limit. Add minimum selling prices where needed, and check the largest combined discount before activating a campaign.

A reward based on shopper confirmation should be priced as an unverified action. It should not be counted as proof of a new follower.

Measure more than accepted deals

An accepted price is not yet an order. Review completed orders and the cost of discounts alongside negotiation activity.

Start with a small group of products. If the results support expanding the offer, increase its scope. Symbiotic’s dashboard and session records help you review what happened; they do not promise a particular conversion increase.

Compare earned discounts with a coupon popup.
